According to the sticker on the back, this stone is mined near the city of Cananea, Mexico, which is about twenty-five miles from the United States border. Traditionally a copper mining area, Sonoran Gold Turquoise began coming from this area just a few years ago. Since that time, this turquoise has become one of the most popular types in the world due to its amazing colors. This is the blue form of Sonoran Gold Turquoise, though it has a couple of green spots along with the golden matrix that derives its name. This turquoise bracelet has a wonderful stone that is large and full of character.

This bracelet was handmade by Native American jewelry artist Richard Kee. Kee added a lightly decorated border around the outside of the stone. All the lines that you see in this border were cut by hand using a tiny jeweler's saw. As someone who routinely uses one of these saws, I can tell you that creating this many small lines would not be an easy task. As with all handmade Native American jewelry, this requires hours of meticulous craftsmanship. Richard Kee split the cuff into four spokes for the stone to sit upon.

This Sonoran Gold Turquoise bracelet is solid sterling silver. It has an opening that is about 1 1/4", though this can be adjusted somewhat to fit your wrist.
