You are looking at a teardrop-shaped White Water Turquoise pendant. This was handmade by a Native American jewelry artist with the initials LJ, which you can find stamped on the back. White Water Turquoise comes from Mexico, not far from the United States border. As far as I have seen, the majority of material that comes from this mine has a similar look. You will normally see a soft blue color with some form of white interlaced throughout. This turquoise pendant has a nice white matrix that weaves its way through the soft blue. I would describe the overall tone as tranquil, not in-your-face bright like some other types of turquoise. It is a lovely stone that you will delight in wearing on a day to day basis.
The Native American jewelry artist added some simple decoration to the silverwork. There is a classic twisted rope design around the stone as well as some round pieces at the bottom. Despite its simplicity, there is always a lot of time and attention to detail that goes into handmade jewelry like this. The artist cuts and solders all of the tiny pieces together. It takes a lot of experience to do this work so cleanly. You can tell that this artist has made a lot of jewelry by how flawless this turquoise pendant is.
This pendant is 1 1/4" tall (not including the bail) and 7/8" wide. It includes its own 18" sterling silver chain. The chain is neat because it has a texture that catches the light and draws attention. You will really enjoy wearing it with this pendant!
