You are looking at a really pleasing pair of earrings from Gary Glandon, the Stagecoach's owner and in-house silversmith. These earrings have turquoise from the Hubei province in China. Due to the depleted supply of American turquoise, material from China has become much more prevalent. The price also continues to rise as demand increases and supply dwindles.
These Hubei turquoise earrings have lovely matching stones. The coloring is very pretty and they have a dark, contrasting matrix that runs throughout. They are each egg-shaped, which I always enjoy. These turquoise stones have a different appearance than many that we normally carry, but they are still very pretty.
I think the silverwork is one of the best parts of these turquoise earrings. Gary added a textured border around the stones, which is minimalistic yet stylish. He also added some amusing silver pieces that dangle at the bottom. Each of these pieces has a hammered texture, just like the border around the stones. Gary handmade each of these little silver pieces and attached them individually. These dangle freely at the bottom of the earrings and give this a really fun style. You are sure to enjoy these handmade Hubei turquoise earrings by Gary Glandon!
These Hubei turquoise earrings are solid sterling silver, including the posts. They measure 2" long and 3/4" wide. While they are fairly large, they are lightweight and comfortable. You will find Gary's stamp on the back of these, as well as "Sterling" to indicate the material.
