Handmade Jewelry by Gary Glandon

You are looking at a very special pendant that was handmade by my father, Gary Glandon. This piece features an advanced technique called stone on stone that Gary has always admired but never used before. It has Lapis Lazuli set in sterling silver with a small turquoise stone set on top. Basically, Gary riveted the turquoise stone into the lapis to hold it in place. There are a couple of high-profile artists that do this technique regularly but it is otherwise quite rare. These artist's jewelry is difficult to come by and tends to fetch a hefty price.

To create a pendant such as this, Gary had to choose two stones that were contrasting but still looked good together. Using turquoise over top of the much darker lapis works really well. The lapis acts as a wonderful background color and helps the turquoise stand out. It is a lovely combination that Gary did a great job choosing.

You can read more about this exciting new pendant in our new article, Turquoise Over Lapis Pendant.

Below the stones, you will find a small silver bar with simple texturing. Below that, Gary added three silver balls for some extra decoration. These elements give this pendant a little added depth but do not detract from the pretty stones above. Overall, this pendant has a contemporary style with some great talking points. This is a pendant unlike anything Gary has made before and you are unlikely to find anything similar elsewhere.

This lapis and turquoise pendant is 1 1/2" long (not including the bail) and 5/8" wide. The chain is not included but you can also add one if you would like.
