Handmade by Gary Glandon at Stagecoach, this sterling silver pendant showcases a lovely New Lander stone with natural earthy tones and web-like patterns.
The centerpiece of the pendant is an oval New Lander stone, a material often associated with turquoise jewelry even though it is not technically turquoise. Mined in Nevada, New Lander is generally classified as a form of chalcosiderite or a closely related mineral. It has become highly sought after in handmade Southwestern jewelry because of its unusual color combinations and natural patterns.
This particular stone features a blend of cream, tan, caramel, brown, and dark veining throughout the surface. The contrast between the lighter and darker areas gives the stone a natural, almost landscape-like appearance that makes every piece unique. No two New Lander stones are exactly alike, which is part of what makes this material so collectible.
Gary framed the stone in sterling silver and surrounded it with hand-stamped sunburst-style accents that add texture and Southwestern character to the design.
