Gary Glandon Egyptian Turquoise Starburst Statement Ring

Spiderweb Sinai Turquoise Surrounded by Sterling Silver Stars

Gary Glandon made this statement ring with a large oval of Egyptian turquoise sourced directly from a miner in the Sinai Peninsula. The stone has vivid blue color with an intricate brown spiderweb matrix that continues across its entire surface.

A smooth sterling silver bezel holds the turquoise at the center of a wide, darkened silver frame. Raised five-point stars surround the stone, their polished surfaces standing out against the darker background. A split-shank band supports the substantial setting and keeps the ring balanced on the finger.

The effort involving the stars must be noted. Each star is individually made and soldered onto this ring, a time-consuming process. Soldering so many tiny pieces can be tricky. Sometimes these pieces move or don't settle the way the artist intended. This turquoise ring shows the skill Gary has amassed from many years of silverwork.

Turquoise has been mined in Sinai for thousands of years. Ancient Egyptians used stone from this historic region in jewelry, amulets, and ceremonial inlay. Gary brings that long history into a bold contemporary design, handmade in the jewelry workshop at Stagecoach.

Once the ring is ordered, Gary will size it in our store to fit its new owner. Simply provide the desired ring size when ordering.
