Gary Glandon’s Sentinel Earrings have a tall, geometric shape with two Kingman turquoise stones set into each earring. The upper stones are oval, while smaller round stones sit at the center of the pointed sterling silver drops. Differences in their blue and blue-green coloring, along with the visible matrix, give each stone its own character.
Every decorative line in the sterling silver was engraved by hand. Gary added geometric borders around the upper settings, angular details through the center, and sunburst and feather-like patterns along the lower drops. Two small silver balls finish the pointed end of each earring.
The hinged construction allows the lower sections to move independently. Their upright shape and balanced arrangement of turquoise inspired the name “Sentinel.” Gary made the earrings in the jewelry workshop at Stagecoach, where he has been creating his own sterling silver and turquoise jewelry for more than 30 years.
