Blue-Green Turquoise with a Playful Sterling Silver Drop

Gary Glandon handmade these earrings with oval Verde Valley turquoise stones set above large sterling silver hoops. Both stones blend turquoise blue with soft green and olive coloring around the edges. Their subtle veins and earthy markings make them a well-matched pair while allowing each stone to retain its own appearance.

Verde Valley turquoise is known for its mixture of blue and green tones. Some stones lean toward bright turquoise, while others display more green, olive, and earthy coloring. The gentle transitions within these two stones give the earrings a softer look than turquoise with strong, dark matrix.

The large drop hoops add movement and a fun sense of scale. Fine linear texture along their narrow edges reflects the light as they swing, while the oval turquoise sections keep the color close to the face. The result is a bold hoop earring that still has a clean, open appearance.

Gary made the earrings in the jewelry workshop at Stagecoach, where he has been creating sterling silver and turquoise jewelry for more than 30 years.
